
About Matt
Matt Schabowsky is an accomplished saxophonist and woodwind player based in Tampa, FL. He is currently attending University of South Florida where he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Music Studies. Matt has toured nationally with the musical "I'll Never Stop Loving You - A Tribute To Ray Charles." He is also a musician at Walt Disney World, performing with the Fantasyland Woodwinds and the Toontown Tuners in the Magic Kingdom. He has performed with many groups, including the Harry James Orchestra, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Dan McMillion Orchestra, George Carroll's Sarasota Sunset Orchestra, the David Pryun Big Band, and many others. Matt has shared the spotlight with Bobby McFerrin and Tony Lynn Washingon, and can be heard on George Carrol's Recording Catch The Spirit. He has also been a featured artist with the Northwest Florida Symphony, and is alumni of the 2004 and 2005 Disney Collegiate All-Star Bands.
Matt is also an experienced teacher. He maintains an active private studio consisting of 15-20 flute, clarinet, and saxophone students. Matt's students have achieved superiors at both the district and state solo and ensemble festival and have been members of all-state and all-county groups, as well as college honor bands. His former students have gained acceptance into major univiersites as music majors. Matt is currently a staff member at Chamberlain High School in Tampa, FL, and has also taught at Wesley Chapel High School in Wesley Chapel, FL and Freedom High School in Orlando, FL. He maintains an active schedule as a clinician working with marching bands, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, and jazz bands. Matt also enjoys doing many arranging and composition projects. His arrangements have been performed by the Rob Parton JAZZTECH Big Band in Chicago, the Miami Sax Quartet, and the Wesley Chapel High School Marching Band.
